Weld the hole up , forget the tow hook VW's are so reliable you wont need it

Why replace the whole panel for one hole ? I would do with out the tow hook [its what AA membership is for] and repair the hole , unless the panel is so bad that replacement is the only option .

Cheers………..

famous last words, lol

my prev mk1 had had it chopped off….

and then obviously had borken down and the owner had had to rope under panel and through vent hole, bending up the front panel    .

A right hassle straightening it up.

If you want it flsuh buy a screw in tow eye from a modern car (omp do one as well), then you only need to weld ina  threaded section, like some nuts, and you only need a small hole visible
