Glass sunroof removal!

Has anyone removed one before?
If so how do you go about it……. :dontknow:
Just wondering before i tackle it and come across any surpises.
The frame to car roof is probably leaking as i think the sealant between has perished. 8O
But i want to get the original frame powder coated before i refit it …..properly sealed this time

It depends on which glass sunroof is fitted - these rooves are an aftermarket fitment, so there is no original VW version.

Most of them are simple enough to remove & refit.

Tips that spring to mind:

Be careful with rusty screws, shearing them off, or damaging the heads will slow you right down. Get a good quality version of WD-40 (which was ok in its day, but their are better ones out now).

Remove the front seats, and put plastic sheeting over the carpet, to make your life easier when working on the sunroof (and you'll keep your seats clean too)
