Fuel filler panel

As above, Ive welded in a new fuel filler panel but it seems to sit back in abit if you get what i mean. Like the panel should of had a bend in it? Its a hadrians panel, Has anyone else had this problem?  :(

As with most pattern panels you will need to work them a little to make it fit properly I am afraid :(

Have you just tacked it in or full scale welded?

in my experience all panels that have to be welded in (even genuine ones) need a bit of work to get the fit right I'm afraid. You should spend time positioning the panel and tack weld it in 3-4 places (so you can easily re-adjust it) and check. You also need to be careful of creating too much heat build up which can create distortion and effect fit.

You could get a genuine fuel filler panel a couple of years ago, may still be available. Alternatively you could try and make good with glass fibre filler (stronger and better for layering up than ordinary filler), any pics of how it fits?

Thanks for the advice  :D  Im thinking as its only on the trim line that it doesnt line up i may just cut this out and replace with a new bit. I may have put abit to much heat through it i think  :( Still im new to this so its all a big learning curve. I'll try and get a project post going soon so you can see what i mean. Thanks again  8)

Think that's a good idea, just cut out than the dodgy area. Try to make it good with glassfibre first, you'll be surprised at what you can do.

Good luck
