front grille

a friend has a chrome grill surround for a mk1, he says it'll clip straight on to my standard single light black grille, is this true and worth the 100 mile round trip or do i need the specific grill that the chrome clips to?

He's right, red or chrome strips should clip onto any standard mk1 grille. The black plastic grille and end parts are indentical thoughout the mk1 range (apart from if its got extra holes for spots/fogs :wink: ) If in good condition worth having.

The strips will fit, but do ask your mate whether the little fold-in tabs are still present, and haven't been snapped off by removing/replacing them on various grilles - the tabs can only be bent open and re-closed a few times before they fall off.

If they're gone, you can still use the strips, but you may need to use glue, to give them some assistance…
