Front duckbill spoiler - confused!!!

Hi Guys, just bought a new duckbill spoiler for my car and it came with these 5 clips - now as far as I can tell these are the correct clips for the job looking at other pictures of them etc

The problem is that these clips dont seem up to the task - as you can see by this pic when one is inserted into the spoiler it does not have enough length to get any purchase on the front valance of the car. Obviously the centre section of the plastic rivet pushes up through the rest of the clip but this isnt going to hold it on to the car

Does anyone here have experience of fitting this spoiler? Am I being a complete idiot and is it a really easy fit??

Cheers guys, Tim

Those plastic rivets are for the front grille and for the smaller spoiler fitted to other non GTI/Formel-E Golfs.

I originally fitted my duckbill spoiler to the GTI using plastic number plate bolts. I did this so that if I clipped a kerb or something the bolts would give and I wouldn't bend the front panel. However I've had to constantly tweak and replace the plastic bolts so just the other week replaced the lot with proper steel nuts, bolts and washers

Interesting, so the company selling this spoiler 'with clips' actually have no idea what they are on about lol. I will probably use nuts and bolts to hold it on as it seems the best option

Thanks for the reply  :)

Hardly a revelation, the motor trade talking out of their a-holes. They are 50% correct, they are spoiler clips but for a different type of spoiler.

Well, thats all done and dusted. Had to drill half inch out of the existing holes but now its on and fixed nicely. Also solved headlight issues today too so I'm a happy bunny

New oil, filter, rocker gasket and K&N panel filter to go on tomorrow, just keeps getting better
