front chin spoiler

i recently purchased a used front spoiler through ebay, went to fit today, using what i pressume suitable nuts and bolts, and the holes dont line up exactly…as a result it doesnt sit quite right, there is a gap of about half n inch between where it joins in the middle.  As it doesnt join it doesn't sit flush.  anyone else come across this? i'm not sure whether it is an original part or not, but surely the holes should line up either way!?

Either they are pattern parts (pattern two piece spoilers are renowned for this) or your front panel is out of shape at the bottom, but I'd imagine you'd notice this. Genuine parts will have a VW logo and part number some where on the back. You can make pattern ones fit by elongating the holes with a soldering iron or a Dremel.

ah thats cool. i tried enlongating the holes a bit but apparently not enough.  Will give it another shot tomorrow, most likley a pattern part by the sounds of.  Didn't notice any VW markings.  Thanks mate.
