I'd call up a good mohair roof trimmers and get their opinion if it can be recoloured or dyed.

I was always under the impression that shoe polish done the job... but I would go with the others and give someone a call and see what they say

I had a British Open Classic Mini before the Golf with a full Webasto sunroof. It was vinyl tho! All the 'back to black' treatments etc were no good as left a patchy finish.

In the end I used one of those liquid shoe polish bottles with the sponge on the end. It was perfect! Good even coating and lasted for ages. Only down side was due to the texture of the vinyl I ended up with lots of small bits of sponge everywhere! Soon washed off tho.

Don't know if that helps you much but thought I would add that in!

Thanks for your input fellas,it's very much appreciated ,and thanks hairyarse ,I've used those polish bottles on a couple of scabby bug headliners before and you're right they work well ,though I used to get more running down me arms than on the liner itself ! ,not sure if you can get them in blue though?anyone know?First off though gonna drop Auto Glym a line and see what they say ,and track down a hood shop to contact ,Any suggestions ??Will let ya know how I get on ..

I e-mailed Autoglym the other day for some tips on leather care (sorry Crazy, doing you out of a wheel re-trim maybe!) Got a very quick response

Thanks Walt ,will give them a ring this week and see what they have to say ,Auto Glym got back to me and said that they don't do any colour restoring products and recommends "a professional restoration company " Surely it can't be that complicated ??Gonna keep diggin there must be an easier option ! Meanwhile though this weekend I used Auto glyms fabric cleaner on my seats, the light grey type, and they came out great ,excellent product!

hood

Hi Dogged,

now this may sound strange but this is what I did for mine when I had one a few years back. I used the autoglym cleaner with the pad they provide, did a small section and used a wet and dry vacuum cleaner (vax in my case)  (in wet mode!) to suck up the cleaner and cack that had been lifted from the roof. I did small sections at a time, and it came up brillantly. I sometimes watered down the cleaner before using the vax to make sure all the dirt was held in water. I then used the autoglym conditioner that came in the box.

Hope this helps
