engine bay painting ?

hi i was wandering if anyone had used anything in particular to remove the original wax oil around the engine bay or would it be best to just paint over it :roll:  cheers

use a steam cleaner mate, (not a jet wash)

well im doing it aswell, and im using white spirit and a towel cloth it works well, but it takes a while, and its messy

i used gunk and a jet wash was abit messy but worked ok

i used a grinder :twisted:

I'm about to go for the steam clean method.  I found somewhere that does the engine and bay for 15quid, however i'm paranoid stuff will get wet and i'll be stranded in Peckham.
 
Should I buy lots of baggies to seal stuff up in and what precautionary measures should I take so I can get her started again?

if you cover everything in plastic bags you'll end up with a shrink wrapped engine which im sure you'll agree is alot worse than a wet one!!
