Dropped sunroof anyone help?

Just bought my first mk1 Gti , after having various other dubs.
Sunroof has dropped on back of panel, is this a easy fix or major job? Any help would be great as this is my first mk1 and I'm a novice.

Thanks

These were spot welded at the front around the opening and were glued to the roof panel at the rear. Not sure what sort of glue would be needed but you would need to remove your roof lining which would mean taking out the rear quarter windows at least.

Cheers,

Spill.

do you just mean the metal panel is sat a bit low? if so simple fix. open roof half way, then pop the front of the inner trim off just pull it downwards there are a row of clips. then close the roof fully and push the inner trim back till you can see all the fixings that hold the panel to the slide mechanism.for the front you loosen the 2 outer cross head screws then adjust the large round disc with cross head to change the height, then tighten the 2 cross head screws again.

at the back you need to look sideways in the gap theres a bolt/screw which you loosen then you can adjust the height at the back, its a toothed bracket with a slotted hole if that makes sense

rubjonny. I have had a look at the pictures but is there a thread on removal, recon and replace for the sunroof? On a scale of 1 to 10, how hard is it?

basically undo all of those fixings in the pictures, push the panel from underneath to pop it out, then lift out. once its out all the screws holding the rails are accessible if you need to remove them, but if it all looks ok just clean it all up and re-grease. the deflector can be unscrewed on its own if its grotty, same with the 2 deflector arms.

then repair/replace roof panel as desired, change the seal, drop it back in and reattach the fixings.

dead simple :)
