Door Locks
Have Just noticed my door locks, driver and passengers can be opened with anything, Yale key, screwdriver you get the Idea. Is this a common fault, the key feels quite tight and not really worn out.
If they are worn out can I get locks built to a key (like Ford locks) or will it mean a complete lock set or two different keys? :dontknow:

I suspect the tumblers in the barrels are not protruding outwards into the barrel housing. They normally spring out and lock themselves into the housing. When the key is inserted into the lock it passes through all the tumblers and pulls them into the barrel, which can then freely rotate allowing the door to be unlocked.
I would strip down the locks and clean up the tumblers, springs and barrel before lightly re-greasing them and re-installing. The tumblers will all be numbered so providing you replace them in the order they came out you should be okay.

Put your key in the lock before you undo the retaining screw in the rear of the barrel, then withdraw key and barrel in one go.
Go easy and make sure you don't lose any of the tumbler springs and make a diagram of the order in which they load up.
All will become apparent once you start dismantling it.

So ?30 for two then 8O I'd opt for the DIY option.
It is really easy and you'll have the satisfaction of doing it yourself.
