Door lock problem

Help need'd… fitted new handles on ma '79 tintop and have discovered they lock ok… but won't open it. turns out the V-shaped prong on end of the barrel isn't long enough to reach the lever on the lock mechanism to open it again, have tryed bending the lever on the lock mechanism but still no joy!!! Any feedback would be great… Has mk2 lock mechanisms got longer lock levers?

iirc yes the mk2 lock fingers are thicker than the mk1 items. not sure if they'll work though? might be able to fit the MK2 lock blocks, afaik they bolt on the same way unless the really early cabs are different in some way
