I got mine out with a ball joint breaker and a few bits of 6mm stud used as drifts. I tapped the new ones in and gave them a final push with the breaker. From memory they came out downwards.

where did you get the new pins and what size are they? Some TWA* used a screw for mine and the doors wobbly as you like.

can you not use a parallel pin punch? if you use the right size it would follow the pin through keeping the door in place? :dontknow:

problem is you need to tap them upwards not downwards, the locking toothy bit is at the top when fitted if that makes sence. just take the door off, only 2 bolts and a pin. unless you have fancy wiring, in which case need to drag that out as well.

oh and get the hinge halfs from that seller as well, chances are they'll be worn or damaged when you remove
once off, carefully measure the distance from door skin to hinge on both doors, I spent ages trying to get my cabby ones aligned right then eventually noticed the bottom hinge was bent in when compared to the other door

Got the pins out quite easily after making another Tool
Where do i get replacement hinge half's from ???
the tool
the penny washers are also drilled at the bottom so the hinge pin fits through them
top hinge with the tool in place ready to be whacked with tool pin punch ( its alloy key bolt so the punch fits inside the key )
same again bottom hinge
another picture of tool

I had an old passenger door that I robbed the good hinges and pins off so didn't buy any. I think some of these sellers on ebay are putting high prices on parts hoping people think they are no longer available from VW and will pay it. As paul_ h suggests I would try VW first.

Hi i can make you up the Tool no bother - it allowed me to to whack the door pin directly in the middle even though the pin punch was at angle - i found it impossible to try hold the pin punch at a angle & hit the door pin with any force & I scraped a bit of the paint
can you please PM the sellers name
thanks

cool
the seller is the one linked on page 1:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270502817208
he doesn't have any hinge halfs in right now, but drop him a email and i recon he'll have some. if they're avail from VAG then he can get em
the shop is actually GPC, but they've lost access to their website so its years out o date. the phone number still works tho
