Door card/interior handle coming off.

This is just me being lazy but i really dont want to take my door card off twice if i can avoid it.
A screw has stripped its thread in my door i think, its the bottom screw just under the interior door handle, quite a thick screw. Can anyone tell me if there is a plastic insert beind the card or does it just tap into metal?

the one that passes through the grab handle x2 screw into a plastic plug, these could pull out, i used to put them in from inside the door to stop this, but yours may have stripped if there is no plastic part on the end of the screw.
