Does my 83 GTI have a green tint windscreen?
Need a new screen on my car and the glass company are asking if it is clear, tinted green, or tinted bronze.
I think it looks green to me but can anyone confirm?
Cheers
PS it is not a campaign in case that make a difference

Is it Gti? Could still be green tinted. Look through it on to a piece of white paper, should help

GTIs may have had green or clear glass (brown only came with 5-door GLS or GTD models).
You can get a green tint screen, with a top-tint of darker green, which is what I got when I needed one.
Either way, a green tint is much nicer than a clear one, and no one (except you) will notice if the rest is clear.
If you aren't sure what glass is in the rest of your car, wind a window down half-way, and put a sheet of white paper half-way behind the edge, to see is the paper behind the glass much the same colour, or very obviously green.

A much easier way to tell if your glass is tinted is to look at the writting in the corner of the glass. It will say "tinted" in small writting if it is. Its the bit that has all the british standards gumf. It says tinted on all of mine which is genuine vag even the small quater lights in the doors has it written on. 8)

I've used the paper test when the glass is aftermarket, as not all of it is marked "tinted"…
