console woes, what going on here then?

decided to try and figure out whats wrong with the dash pockets in my new gti. it seems that the pockets under the dash kind of fit but the console doesnt seem to fit at all.

the side tabs just dont seem to go anywhere on the pockets! am i going mad or has someone tried to fit the wrong pockets or console?

Hi - I think that may be from a cabrio (?)

could be cab, different shape gauge cluster to all my gti

Remove the centre console and the right lower shelf, you should see a plastic pin which needs to fit into the hole on the left lower shelf. The plastic flange at the top of the right lower right shelf needs to go under the left plastic flange on the left shelf. Its takes a bit of time to get it just right, once the fitting is correct fit the centre console, which is screwed to the shelves by 2 screws.

tried that, the left one is ok but the right one is nowhere near at all

Oh, just noticed that the centre console looks to be non standard for a tin top.

ah so general concensus is i need another console then!

Try changing the right lower shelf, you can pick on up cheap on ebay.

I'd say you need to change the right lower shelf and the centre console to get it fitting and looking right.

its similar to the one you already have, but obviously different if you compare them.

I think rals is selling one in the for sale section too, basically just check it came from a hard top series 2 mk1
