Confused Mk1 GOLF GTI 1982 1.6.............CONFUSED !!!!

Im obviously new here. I've been looking at pictures of  Mk1 GTI's and Im confused about my new purchase. I bought a GTI 1982 1.6, pretty, pretty good nick. Had a BBS kit fitted, BADLY ! probably 20 year ago, which has left me with hardly NO RUST, bargain. Anyway, Im not sure what is fitted to the lower sills as there are fixings like the same ones that fit the stripes to the sides, you all know what i mean I hope ? I want to gwet her back to original, The interior is MINT, just has mould over it, and pretty low mileage being 107K due to being garaged for 20 odd years. Much help appreciated.

Normally a chrome lower cill trim.

I think these are still available from various places, crazy Quiffs, big boy toys, you get discount by being a paid member too!

If its a GTI they'll be black trim strips, not chrome.

Are these full length Strips ?  Coz Ive NEVER seen these on a Mk1 ??????

On a GTI they have 3 strips at mid-line - one on the wing, one on the door and one on the rear. There's also a strip on the bottom, along the sills between the wheels. So, none are the full length of the car alone, but obviously the 3 all go from front to back. All Mk1s had them.

The car was already stripped 7 years ago before I got it, and i only have 6 strips so I guess Im 2 missing ????? It did have an original BBS kit fitted "BADLY" 20 year ago, so guess they were binned ?

Appologies if I seem a bit naive here, but the information gained is just great. As the car is 29 years old, its obviously had a few mods in it's past, which i'm trying to work out. Im quite new to VW, but its a pleasure to be in contact with people in the know.

There you go black ones, just seen chrome on a lot of early cabbies.

Part No C171 853 55 A
Clips Part No 803 853 139 C you need 12 apparently.
