Chrome Bumpers
Everybody knows how difficut/expansive these are becoming but its fair to say that these are becoming popular when fitted to later cars.
Does anybody know if the metal inset which is inside a normal plastic bumper is anywhere near the shape of the chrome ones? If so it should be easy enough to get it chrome plated.
If not could it be welded up and dressed to be around the same shape/finish.
Anyone know if the plastic end caps are still available (or if the end caps off anything else would fit)…
Just trying to think my way round the availability issue - not for my own Mk1 but I'm sure it would help plenty of others.

The metal underneath the plastic is completely different…and normally very rusty!
Endcaps are no longer produced either though there are people making repro items. Wouldn't be too difficult to knock something up though…
PS - I just found a set on EBAY - Complete starting at ?50!
Link in the For Sale section…

Just added up and a set would come to 714Euro not including shipping or the bolts that hold the bumpers to the brackets. That's ?491.
