Cellulose v 2 pack

I've sprayed 2 cars sometime ago using 2 pack paint, the finish was superb apart from the odd run. Anyone sprayed with Cellulose  and if so how do you go about it/

I was under the impression that it is cellulose that is becoming hard to get hold of. I obtained 2-pack no problem at all, from my local paint factors. I know 2-pack is giving way slowly to water-based paint, for the professionals, driven by the health and safety concerns, and this stuff I gather is a bit beyond the DIY person at present.

In my limited experience, cellulose needs to be thicker than 2-pack in the gun in order not to run, and even then is more prone to it, and is also more prone to orange peel.
2-pack was brilliant - thin, so easy coverage with no orange peel, goes off quickly, chips less easily when dry, shines better.

BUT, despite what you may hear, 2-pack is dangerous stuff. No filter mask on the market, even the best 3M ones, is approved for 2-pack, and you therefore need an air fed mask. I have a 3hp 14cfm compressor and it won't drive both a mask and the gun, which means you need quite a bit of equipment to do it safely. If you want to scare yourself into living a long life, spend an hour on the 'net doing your own research…

Oh, and you need to make sure everything is well covered and masked if using 2-pack, as the overspray doesn't dry before landing on your nice shiny car/bike/furniture etc like cellulose. It lands, sticks and then dries, leaving you with a problem…

Hope this helps…

In the past I sprayed 2 pack, but in did it outside in the garden and not in the garage. I did get a few problems, one was that the paint went from glossy to flat when the temp. dropped the other was orange peel, but when I flatted  the paint (had to wait a day) and sprayed it again it came up a real pro job.

I'm not going to chance my health again so will go for the celli option. I might even use cans as it just for the boot area.
