Cabriolet seats
Just a question really.
Looking to buy front lower bolster for my gti cab.
Newton comercial have them listed http://www.newtoncomm.co.uk/cars/vw-golf/model-134/seats/3198-products-3198/
has anyone ever used them and are they the right ones?
Are cab and tin top the same?

i cant answer the question on if they are the right ones but the look like it.
I can testify on the quality of Newton as i have used them for my Mini.

Nope that's for the tin top.
I don't think these were fitted to the cabby.
Early and late seat foams are one piece.
Have a look in the how to section under forums and look for seat refurb.
Which year is your cabby?
Cheers

Unless you have alternate seats fitted.
Car year and a piccy always helps us too.

Nope, just standard seats fitted.
Just got off the phone to them, they said all mk1 seats are the same… Woman on the phone didnt sound like she really knew what she was on about.
Will rather listen to your advice and look at the how to section.

It's a similar process I would imagine for most seats.

Early cabs seats are completely different seat bases.

that one only fits mk1 gti and early cabrio bases. later cabrio bases are the same as pre-90 mk2 gti, and they use 1 piece foams for the whole seat bottom.

pre-90 mk2 golf and g40 shape polo have what you want then
note that 90spec mk2 seats are different, and dont go by based on the age of the car theyre in either as they might not be original! look closely at the shape of the seats to confirm they are what you need. the 90spec seats are subtly different, lower bolsters are more rounded and the backrest tilt arm bits are a lot longer so seats tilt much further forwards

my bolsters were gne aswell but all i did was glued them bak together then glued 1/4 " foam over the top and they came out brilliantly. Remember wen u get new foam they wnt have the metal bars gng thru them which is wat u need wen fixing the material to the seats.

Foam
If you buy the aftermarket ones "which don't fit the late cab" from Newton, then no.
no metal bars as they are designed to just replace the damaged side.if you buy the original part from vw, they do have all the bars and are a complete replacement.
