cabrio replacement hood

Hello!

This is my first post on this and in fact any forum. I have just acquired a '92 Rivage, which is in generally good nick, but really needs a new mohair hood. I have enquired at my VW dealer, to be told it will cost >?1000.  I know there are cheaper alternatives, which I would like to go for, BUT whilst cheap makes me happy, nasty certainly doesn't! can anyone advise - is it possible to get good (VW style)quality at reasonable cost?
I don't want to DIY and I live in Kendal, Cumbria - any tips greatfully received

Cheers

Edward

PS thanks to Drew for this great site!!

Hello Edward,

Welcome to the forum, glad you joined us. As I recall we have a member who has just written up a document on hood replacement and I'm supposed to have uploaded it by now…

Stay tuned and I'll get the 'downloads' section online!

Cheers,

Drew.
