Cabby Boot Question.....does it have a seal?

I know this might be a silly question but I have just purchased my first mk1 cabby and by my own mistake I did not look in the boot. I have just had a look and there seems to be water on top of the spare wheel and under the carpet is damp, there is no water lying under the spare wheel is it possoble it could be condensation? or does the boot have a seal that goes round it because there is a gap round the boot….I dont know if I have described it very well but hopefully someone can help.
Thanks

There's a a rubber seal on my Clipper attached to the body work and the boot closes against it.
My guess would be the water is getting in from the rubber seal around the rear window.

Boot should have a seal, see picture below.
If this doesnt help then just let us know.

cheers to Robbo and DJHeap that is the very thing thats missing so hopefully that will solve the problem. I did check the parcel shelf and it showed no signs of any water marks so hopefully it was just the seal. You always hear good things about the VW Forums and what a great family it is and I am glad I have joined so thanks again.

nigolf..

ps: any idea where to get one?
