It not totaly out the question, you can retro fit seatbelts to most classic cars. you can by proper anchor plates and 3 point  belts that don't use a b pillar!

I Have some info about rear belts, It can be done  The article is in Pratical Classics July 2005 (you can order re-prints from the website http://www.practicalclassics.co.uk). Bits bought from Quick Fit Safety Systems 020 82060101.

It says that an anchorage point should not be within 12in of rust!

I currently looking into doing it myself, when i find the time I will post a solution.

I'm sure I saw a diagram for installing these in the Bentley's Manual.

Owning a Mk1 cabby is a vertical learning curve…

Prowler you may be able to help here…I read on the rabbit convertible site that the later MK1 cabs had over shoulder belts with a guide on the back of the seat, got any pic diagrams etc, I don't have a copy of bentley's.

I was thinking of using my MG Midget belts that dont have a B pillar attachment. They are inertia real and have dials on them so it doesn't matter if they are horiztontal etc, you just move the arrows to conteract the postioning.

You can buy  proper achor points from www.holden.co.uk so installation will be totally up to the job.

If i get this right might become the most popular mod on the Cab!!!

The 3 point rear seat belts may have been an option in the USA, don't think it was for Europe, but may be wrong.

However,

Check this file for the location of the mounting hole........

Thanks for that, didn't think of mounting it there, I assume what theyre are describing is the old type child seat belts?

I'm trying to get a picture of an american rabbit as I also belive they didn't fit them over here.

I managed to source a US setup but then sold the car and the belt. Ive now bought the car back and would love a 3 points setup so if anybody knows of a setup for sale id be very grateful if you could let me know. Thanks
