Bumper combinations

Ok im deciding what bumpers to put on my golf. Its an '81 Golf N and currently has the black 'wrap around' type with reflectors built in. Will the earlier small bumpers, the flat bar type, fit in the same mounts? Also are what i currently have and the small flat type the only types?

Theres also the cabby clipper style big bumpers, but then you'd need the arches and side skirts

the metal bumpers fit but pricey, plus you'll have holes in the wings for the old side clips. a rubber grommet of suitable size will make it less obvious

Please dont fit cabby clipper bumpers, unless its a cabriolet. Thats where they belong. In my personal opinion, a hard top wasnt styled to look like a clipper. The small chrome bumpers will look best id say, but new ones are expensive, you'll have to buy end caps, brackets and the centre inserts to do the job properly too which will all cost extra on top of the bumpers themselves. Its worth every penny though I think on the right car.

personally i think tin tops look much better with the big bumper clipper kit, it finishes them off.
