Budget DIY Sound Proofing

Just a note really,

When i first bought my golf i decided to strip the seats and carpet out cause the smell was driving me mad. Smelt like a really old car.
What i found was the sound proofing under the carpets was minging smelly and wet. I was urging all the way to the bin, this water has been here for yonks, stail and horrible yellow.. YUKKK.

The leak was never sorted out with the previous owner and left to rot in the well. Im glad i bought the car now.

Any how after power washing the carpet and the seats in the lovley summer sunshine, i thought how am i going to replace the horrid VW sound proofing.

Me and the missus went camping over the summer and like many of us slept in a tent on those foam mats. Yes your thinking, like me when i was dreaming about my beloved MK1. I wonder if this stuff is good for underlay of the carpet.

So i tried it, worked 100% great stuff, water proof, soft light, and best of all very cheap. The single mats are a perfect size for going front to back on the floor pan.

Nice tip should save a few bob
