When I was doing mine there seemed to be only 2 types, metric or imperial. You need the metric ones. From memory a 10 or 11mm spanner fits or you can get a special brake spanner like a ring key with a bit cut out.

Use one of the old ones to check the thread against :dontknow:

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

Having done the brake pipes on my car, I would throughly recommend using a proper brake spanner. It's so easy to round the nuts off with a normal spanner, as I found out!! They only cos a few ?'s and are well worth it!!

I've got a box of the correct sized unions, and about 10 metres or more of copper brake pipe you can have if you want it?? I brought it to make the pipes for mine, but as I said in a previous post somewhere, I could never get the ends of the pipe to form properly, so i gave up and brought a ready made set in the end! They are yours for the cost of the postage if you want them??

PM me if interested.

no problem.

It's not thje connectors you'll mess up, it's the pipe. I could not get the correct flare at the end of the pipe dispite many hours of trying. I brought a job lot of the unions, think there's about 100 or so in there, and 25 metres of copper pipe, but I think I've wasted well over 10 metres trying to perfect the technique which I never managed. It's therefore only taking up space in my shed, so if it can be of use, don't hesitate to ask as I' rather it went to somewhere useful than got chucked!

Let me know if you're sucessful making the pipes up, I'd be interested to know!

Yes, eleven millimeter is the normal and standard size of its pipe fitting. You just need to choose better pipe and durable. There are some pipes that are easy to torn.

with the right tools the flare is easy. it's only a single flare. get the tool from machine mart. rad the instructions. read them again.

cut pipe with small pipe cutter. debur with small knife. fit into clamp 3mm above seat (hint the press plate back is the right thickness so use it as a guide) look furthest clamp from pipe first then closest. fit press plate (the little top hat). fit press. wind in. job done. it really is that simple.

I'm in process of redoing my brakes lines. And have no idea of brake line size or nuts I need. I see folks say it's 11mm but that's the wrench size right? So is that M11 x 1.25 nuts? How do I determine what is already on the car?
