Bootlid Badges

Hi, just bought a 1991 Golf GLI 1800 Cabriolet. Confused over the bootlid badges. It showed  'cabriolet' on top of 'Golf'. Most pictures I have seen are the reverse. Can it be the painter who made a mistake?
Can someone help?

Thank you

Leon  :?

you sure its a GLI 1991 cabriolet? only the late "clipper" body kitted cars were either a GTI or a carb engined "CLIPPER" if it has a carb engine then it wont be an injected version so their will be no "I" as such

the badges should be a round vw symbol and "volkswagen" inscription on the left hand side of the boot…and depending what model it is? either "Golf GTI" or just "Golf" and some clipper models had "cabriolet" beneath the golf badge if it had one on the right hand side, the GTI versions never came with a "cabriolet" badge as far as i am aware.
