can anybody tell us what is the biggest size of wheel i can fit to my 84 cab without trimming arches? ive been told 15 inch max

i put 17s on my mk1, only rubbed on the back when i had a car full! they did look stupid tho!

Rubbing problems would depend on the type of suspension you have I guess. I'd agree with about 15'' max though. As a general rule for mk1's, anything bigger is a bit out of proportion and is often more trouble than it's worth.

just my opinion dude….i wouldn't go bigger than 15 inch wheels…..it just doesn't look the part…i had 17 on 2 of my previous golfs…swopped 'em both for 15's …the ride is a bit kuk on 17's too.

i have an 83 cab running on 16's, its been lowered and seems fine, rubs on big bumps but generally fine.

Hey man ,im got 15's on my car,getting my coilies soon.Do you have spacers on your car and how low is it? Im wanna drop mine to 60mm ,im a bit worried about rubbing……
