Mk1

Just after some advise.. Is it a big expensive job to get an Audi TT dash in a Mk1 cabriolet, does any know someone who has done this?

Thanks Joe

Few things in life work as well as a Volkswagen.

Hiya, Dont know anyone who has done it but I looked into putting a corrado dash into my mk1 and the principle isnt disimilar.

It involves sectioning the dash width wise, then joining/bonding it back together in some way and finally making it look like it was always meant to be like that. On top of that the gearstick may foul (put kink in the gear stick)

The corrado/mk2 dash conversions are said to be slightly easier due to the curvature of the windscreen being similar and the shape being close to the original mk1 dash. The tt dash however (like the mk4 golf etc) will be alot more involed due to the increased depth, difference n height etc

So all in all theyre alot of work if your doing it yourself (or alot of money if your not) and if not done correctly they look wrong.

More straight forward conversions tend to be polo (mk4?) & Series 1 dashes which are both the right size however the only direct fit to a Series 2 mk1 golf would be a late side mounted series 1 dash.

Theres alot more info on vortex, vwwatercooled, volkszone, club gti etc to give you a better idea but hopefully someone else whose actually carried a conversion out will chime in and give you some first hand advice.
