Advice needed

Hi guys, im a newbie on the site so be gentle!

Im looking to buy a mk1 gti but dont know where to start :roll:  

I have done resto's in the past so im not completely useless when it comes to cars…

What are the main problem arears with them so I can look there first

On the homepage on the right hand side there are a couple of links that will help you.  Try here first.

The main problem with 20 year old plus Mk1s is going to be rust - sills, wings, filler neck etc;
Any ideas what type of mk1 you're after yet?  Tintop/cabbie/small block etc;  If you keep an eye on the for sale section you will find potential projects coming up every now and again.
