A Mk1 Golf with a Paint Code of LP9V not LA9V

Hi,

My Mk1 Gti which i recently bought, says on the original boot sticker that the colour code is LP9V. The colour is meant to be schwarz mettallic grey. The car unfortunately was resprayed to a matte black badly and a polish up through it shows the original metallic grey.

I have done a bit of my own research about this paintcode and I can only find it on the Mk2 Golf.

Has anyone come across this for a Mk1 Gti. It was registered in october 1983.

Thanks

Not heard of LP9V on a Mk1 before - maybe a special order from the factory. If you could get the Vin checked they could tell you what was initially ordered.

So can I contact my local dealer for that?

Thanks

Hi,
After being in the bodyshop for over a year my car is going to be ready soon. I am having it sprayed to the paintcode mentioned. Just wondered if anyone has got anymore information on this since. Would this colour effect the value of my car once fully restored?

Welcome back to the madhouse mate. Good news yours will be ready soon.

As for value if it's a rare colour I am sure if selling you could ask for a bit more than a run of the mill one :)

Thanks for the response. Yes I will be on here quite a bit once I get the car back.

I know what you mean with everything being 'rare' on eBay!

If your car turns out to be a factory spec'd colour then that is ULTRA rare. I would ask your dealer to confirm the 'birth certificate' with Wolfsburg. You may find out it was a German market car but RHD made. Get the pics up, I've never seen one !
