83 MK1 Accident damaged, PLS HELP

Hi, i recently was involved in a accident and car was T-boned on the drivers side. Im determined to restore it to her full glory but im in desperate need of help and advice.

The main support and the cross beam (below door) has been badly damaged and i was suggested cutting them out of a donor car and using it on my 2 Door. Please have a look at the pic and andy advice about what i shoud be doing would be appreciated.
I also going to have to get the chasis straightened. I do have someone here in my home town that specializes in that so that sorted. THe rest ill be taking on my own.
Thanks again.

OOOPS! Hope you were ok.
You would more than likely need the whole car on an alighnment jig to straighten everything out. Plus there my be more damage underneath, the floor pan shunted out of position. A report by a Mechanical Engineer may be in order, just to make sure that what work needs doing and you are fully aware of what this involves. i have seen worse cars than this repaired, but it depends on what your knowledge, skills and abilities are.
good luck with whatever you decide.

Plus what about claiming Money off the driver at fault?

If u can believe, not a scratch on me. The mechanical engineer is sound advice, def gonna be looking into finding someone to help with that.
It makes me feel good to hear uve seen worse. Im totally comitted to fixing her, they are very scarse here.
My insurance screwed me so im laying a neglient driving charge on the guy and gonna sew him for damages. In the mean time im gonna do what i can.
Thanks for the advice.
Keep watching for progress.

Insurance Companies  :dontknow:  we have legal protection on some policies and they would pay out for a Lawyer to deal with the situation in regards the legal aspects. Why has the Insurance company not dealt with this accident?

has the damage gone through to the inner rear quarter or just the outside skin? Not sure how much could be pulled straight.

Yep keep us informed Bud.

Insurance did a nr on me. Went for the cheaper insurance company and the fine print left me with very little pay out. Ill have to look into them supplying a lawyer. It raining heavy atm here so as soon as i get my workshop ready car will be going in under cover then ill be able to take better n closer pics of the damage. As far as i could see just the body work was dented on the rear quater. But once stripped down to shell ill be able to better describe whats happening. Like i said im pretty sure the cross beam under door and main support is bent.

A few questions!

Just getting my ducks in a row here, want to know when i do get around to

cutting and welding:
I have a arc welder, is that efficent to weld the pieces im cutting from the donor car. Or am i gonna need to use other kind of welding machine? Will the weld be strong enough?

When im stripping the car down:
Is there a certain/best way to stripp. what should start coming off first?
Ive seen the shell on a type of frame fabricated from square tubing with wheels, would that be better/easier to work with?
Any Tips on removing the engine and transmission.

Please refer me to any threads if there are any.
Thanks again guys.

If you can get the floorpan/inner sill straightened out and source a repair panel the rest will be fairly straightforward.

finding a panel is going to be the challenge.  I've been trying to source one myself here in the UK (where the 3 door model was 'common') for months and the best I could get is rotton around the arch, needing major repairs letting in.

If you need any advice on actually fitting the panel, PM me your email address and I'll send you a load of photos.

Good luck with it mate, hope you can fix her up!

Looking Promising

Finally got my cabbie under cover n started focusin my efforts to get it riding at least so i can get around to source parts.
The only mechanical part that was damaged was the left wish bone as far as i can see.

So getting one in the week, poppin it on and off we go.
Managed to source a door, 2 front fenders for minimal.
Found a place to pull the cabbie straight too but need to be able to move her so thats why sorting out the left wheel.

Would i be able to use the main post of a regular 4 door to replace the bent one?
