4 light grill query - please help

Hi folks

I wonder if anyone could help me with a little query?

I have recently bought new driving lights & spot lights for the gti, when swapping them over with the original ones I hit a problem. The spot lights don't fit on the grill I have,

Now the question is, I have a hella grill on the car (I'm guessing someone replaced the original one a some point).

Does anyone know if the original vag grills & the hella ones are different? I bought the lights from venom & on the boxes they say for the mk1.

Just wondered if you could shed any light on this before I go back to them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
