Won't start when hot

Hi all, My 1.8 GTI tintop is giving me some grief. :(

She will start ok when she's been stood for a while but if I drive for a while then stop I cannot get her started agian for ages. :banghead:

I've replace the plugs, distributor head and checked the cabling between them.

All seems ok and when she's running she's a bit 'lumpy' (maybe a non standard cam).

Anyway, I'm going to replace the coil and spark leads tommorow but is there anything else i should be looking at?

injector seals, they can perish and suck in air i think, also faulty injectors where they dribble slightly when ignition turnd of (correct me if im wrong anyone), filling the cylinder with fuel making it difficult to start, im not an injection person i have carbs but i read all the forums and pick bits up, if u search back through the forums and click on the similar sypmtoms im sure its down to these two i mentiond.

i always have the last laugh ;)

Search forums for "prowlers injector test" and take it from there.

A good thing to check would by the Fuel Accumulator. These are not too expensive and are a simple fix. Not sure on the proceedure for testing. I would suspect take it off and shake it. If you hear fuel sloshing about it's probablly leaking. I know older Porsches have this same problem.

I would suggest to check the fuel non return valve which located at the front end of the fuel pump. If this valve fail you will experience a hot start problem.
