won't start - lots of clicking

hi, wondering if anyone can help.

I'm having problems starting my car. when I turn the key I get lots of clicking from somewhere at the back of my engine. it sounds as if the engine begins to start for about half a second before the clicking starts. all of the lights on the dash to flicker with the clicks.

Sounds like your battery is dead. And the clicking will be your starter motor...

thanks. gonna have to check my alternator… been driving all afternoon   . never heard the clicking before and I've had a flat battery a couple of times before.

It will be the solanoid. It maybe bad connections too.

does the battery light come on with the ignition, then go off when running? if not alternator is dead or the blue trigger wire has fallen off. follwo it from the alt all the way to the other end near the battery +ve, make sure its not snapped or becoem disconnected anywhere
