Settling In
will a 1.8 head fit straight on to a 2.0 bottom end
mite sound a bit mad but it has been suggested to me, if so are there any modifications required and what, has anyone done this ?

Which 1.8 head and which 2.0 block? 1.8 DX head fits straight onto 2.0 3A block, apparently. There's other combinations which also work and valve/piston crown clearance is okay, along with suitable compression ratio. I think you match the head gasket to the block, in case the HG is different for the 2 parts.

i like a man who knows what he's talking about, thanks for thet fella, just bought the car as you will prob appreciate from the fuel injection post, am normally an aircooled man ! i have 2l block coming on sturday from the guy i bought the car from, which it appears i am going to need as there is a frost crack in the block of the 1.8 as the car hasbeen standing for a while wit what appears to be with no anti freeze in it !

you'll need a dizzy adaptor ring kit from TSR as well, plus swap the dizzy gear over from the 2.0 dizzy onto your old one
