white smoke

i've just got my 82 1.6 gti back on the road after over 6months, it was driving fine until i decided to over take some one and remind myself what it could do,
when i looked in my mirror all i could see was white smoke, i got it home and the water was boiling and there was a little bit of smoke coming out of the rocker cover when i took the cap off

i was gonna go to e38 tomorrow but it seems unlikely now

any ideas?

head gasket , does your oil look like mayo ?

it looks a bit think if thats what you mean? i also found oil in my air filter

If not head gasket mite need new rings
