whats the best oil to put in my 1990 1.8 cabrio

hello only me  :lol:  ( again ) i have got noisy tappets and was just wondering if i could put a diffrent oil in to make the noise stop as when the engine is warm the noise stops  :dontknow:

If your tappets are noisy, might be worth trying an engine oil flush while you do the oil change. But its only 50% likely to solve a noisy tappet problem.

They are replaceable with the engine in the car, you'd need to remove the cambelt and cam, though. Then re-time it properly etc.

The oil doesn't matter, any oil within spec should be okay. Oil viscosity is more to do with ambient temperature than anything.

as your tappits should be hydraulic if the engine flush doesnt work could always try some automatic transmission fluid. see post below.

If it isn't oiltight, use cheapo 20/50 whilst anything over 100K is a waste of synthetic and semi-synth.

Forte engine flush is about the best available but the same effect can be gained by regular (and frequent) oil changes.
