Unknown connector

Post

ive been doing quite a lot of work on my gti hard top recently and found a connector on the inlet manifold not connected to anything.  Below is a picture of the connector (not a picture from my car as mines isn't connected up). What does this do/control? The car has felt down on power, would this be something that could cause my problem?

thanks in advance image.jpg

To be honest I can't remember what it controls but it could be the issue. Are you saying you don't have both halves of the connector present?

Unknown connector

I have the half connected to the inlet manifold but don't have the other part of it. I could do with knowing what colour of wires connect into it as there are a few odd wires lying about the engine bay

the plug pictured is the idle switch which controls the cold throttle enrichment along with a vacuum valve on the rear of the airbox. its only fitted to late mk1 cab/rocco injection engines so I'd not worry too much.

it fires the 5th injector if you floor the throttle on a cold engine, which you shouldnt really be doing anyway!

Yeah the car idles at a very low Rev range but has never cut out. There is no need to sort it and have it plugged back in?

i should have said 'throttle switch' really as it has no affect on the idle in a mk1
