TSR Tickover
I've got a 1.9 TSR conversion in my '83 GTi and was wondering if anyone knew what rpm tickover should be. I know a standard 1781cc is around 850 but i've heard that the TSR needs a bit more.
Under 1000rpm it sounds fine under the bonnet but the dash vibrates a fair bit so i've set it at approx 1100rpm which cures the vibes. A mate of mine knows someone with a TSR and he's got it set at 1200rpm.
Anybody know for sure?
P.S. yes it does go like S**T off a shovel

It's probably a combination of things, a lumpy cam doesn't help. I noticed mine did this when I fitted a Kent GS2 in my Mk1. It could also be that the uprated engine mounts that have have been fitted are too hard/harsh (assuming they are uprated) which is causing the extra vibration. There might be some contact between the exhaust and the body of the car just enough to cause it.
Certainly difficult to pinpoint to any single thing, Just one of those things you have to put up with for more power

ahh - didn't think of the engine mounts, i'll inspect. But as you said, just one of those trade offs for more power - less refinement.
