trouble starting from cold

im having trouble with my '89' GTI it wont start from cold unless im full throttle, i have disconnected the cold start injector and it has improved any ideas? thanks Rich :dontknow:

check the thermoswitch in the front coolant flange. if the wiring has shorted that would make the 5th inj stick open. also make sure the thermoswitch is a big brown one, if its small white 2 pin you have a digifant ecu temp sensor fitted which would explain everything

hi John, thanks for that, im not all up with my vw's i just love the car. i will take a look tomorrow and look at those components. thanks again its good to get some advise from someone who knows there stuff.

also quick one, do you thing that could cause a small splutter when cold?

could be a number of things really, to start with i would look everywhere for vacuum leaks and check in all the inlet boot folds too as they can split where you cant see. if all that looks good replace all the ign components with fresh bosch/beru stuff from here:

finally get the ign timing checked, and reset the idle and co after :)
