Throttle/Idling problems, pelase help.

Been experiencing throttle problems for a while now and its making driving very frustrating. Im running mk1 GTI k-Jet setup.

When i put my foot on the accelarator the revs build nicely……..however when I remove my foot, the revs can stick and can take several seconds to begin dropping. Sometimes, the revs eventually return back to the correct idle position, other times they only return to around 2000rpm.

I thought it might be the throttle body unit, so last night i replaced with another unit but the problem persisted, so i dont believe its the TB. What I discovered was that the accelarator pedal didnt seem to return back all the way - so i pulled the pedal back and the revs returned to the correct idle position. So im thinking its either the throttle cable or the pedal.

Has anyone else experiecnced this problem, or know how to resolve?

id say its the cable, replace it asap before it snaps! also have a look at where the cable attaches to the pedal. the mk1 uses a foamy cush here and it'll probably fall apart! MK2s use a rubber bush here and its peanuts from VAG :)
