Temp light keeps flashing
Hi ive just bought a mk1 gti, and everytime I start it up the temperature light at the top of the set of guages keeps flashing. It eventually stops after about 5 mins of driving, but does blinker on every now and then.
Obviously ive checked the water level and thats fine…im new to mk1's so don't really know much about them. If anyone has any ideas as to what could be causing this, they would be much appreciated!
Cheers
Alex

welcome to the click! lol
when you turn the ignition on it always flashes for a few seconds so (call it a 'system check'), i would be plenty tempted to check the connection on the temp sender to make sure its clean and making good contact… if that doesnt work out for you then i'd check to see if there's any breaks in the insulation along the wires (they do tend to get brittle with age)
failing that, a temp sender doesnt cost much but i'd make sure you check the above otherwise you'll still have the problem
hope this helps… let us know if you still have a prob and we'll have a little group session jk!

The sensor seems to be sensitive to the correct Ph in the water I have found. 50:50 water with the pink coolant fom VAg sorted this problem on mine.
