Starting problems

Ive a mk1 cabby (dx) that wont start for me after an oil change. The car hadnt been started in a while and I decided to change the oil coming into the summer. After the oil change it wonuldnt start. It sounded like the starter motor was gone. Got it back today after it being refurbished but still wouldnt start. The labored noise I thought was the starter is actually coming from the gearbox directly behind. Its a kind of fast clicking. Anyone with any ideas before I go any further?

Flat battery

make sure you got a good earth from engine to chassis, mine had a similar problem, fitted a new earth
 and cleaned all other earths and it fired up.
