starting issue help!
if the cars left to stand for a couple of days though it tends to fire up first go, the starter sounds like it sticks for a split second as soon as i turn the key then it will fire. could it be the starter motors dodgy? and i have a spare mk2 motor will this fit a mk1?
also ive read about the injectors dripping and flooding the engine could this be the problem?

checking the injectors is pretty easy, you just need to pull them from the head. check the sticky on this site think it shows the process here but basically remove them (dont disconnect from fuel lines) and put rag around nozzles to catch spilt fuel, remove air inlet housing (black rubber piece on top of metering head), turn ignition on and gently lift flap inside metering head, fuel should flow from injectors (dont do it for long, a second should do) and then observe injectors, they should have stopped delivering fuel and should not drip any fuel at all.
Before doing all this I would check that you have voltage at the positive side of the coil whilst you are cranking the engine. if not you will need an ignition switch.
Cant be anymore specific than that im afraid, away with work at the moment and only have whats in my head
Do it once and do it right! ok, we've identified the problem, lets not make it worse by guessing……… Identifying the sympton is not the same as understanding the cause
