STARTER PROBLEMS!!!

So i went 2have a look at the progress on the mk1 ths weekend and on my way back home as i started the mk2… it just CLICKED 8O…
tried to swing it again and the starter just kept SPINNING without any sign of stop just smoke coming from it :cry:  i dont know WHAT that was :dontknow:  CAN SOMEONE HELP?? Some guy told me its the relay that fused??? now i conFUSED.

Stuck solenoid. Normally they just stick in the open position (as happened to yours first) but it seems that yours has now also stuck in the closed position. You'll need to disconnect the battery to stop it. Did the engine start?

look at the chunky red wire to starter. had same issue on a citroen ax i worked on, the cable had spun round and hit the solonoid trigger wire due to the insulating surround snapping off

Nope eingine didnt start at all, only way i could stop it fast was disconnectin the battery… disonnected the starter also and kick started the car and it started but the battery died due to nothing running through the starter i guess, but i connected it 2gether so the alternator can charge the battery.and wen i reconnected the starter(After charging the battery) it just did NOTHING.No click no running wild no nothing. and it was recond about 4months ago its a Lucas starter, not that bad i think. I drove home on monday and it seems like the battery was charged by the alternator, but then again i didnt use any lights.alternator and regulator seems fine just that the batt died so quick made me worry.

Chunky red was perfect an in place. I remember the old starter before this one usually clicked once and when i give it another swing it fired up.So i bought the new lucas one and when this one started to click i had it recond 4months ago and it worked fine until sunday nite… just 1 click then again HMMMMMMMMM smoke every where :cry:  with no chance of the KR firing up   idk :dontknow:

next time buy bosch  

New is always the best way to go i guess...

yeah you were right paul… stuck solenoid.  but all fixed up now. i got a new one but still fixed the old
