Sorry... A newb question about fuel

Hi,

I have just brought my first MK1 golf its a H reg 1991 1.8carb 8v cabrio.  The guy i brought it from said he was using unleaded fuel with redex lead replacement additive, is this needed?.  Will it run better if i use this additive or will regular unleaded be ok?.  Also what about (super) or (ultimate) unleaded the more expensive one?.

afaik it dosnt need leaded fuel or hence the lead replacement, dont know about the ostane rating for non gti,s.

Dosent need it.

All Vw's since about 1974 can run unleaded.

95 ron will be fine and youll probably not notice any major differences with higher octanes unless theres some deficiency that using that rating can overcome- and its cheaper..
