SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE MANIFOLD AREA

Kind of solved one issue by removing a few litres of oil  :mrgreen:

One problem does still exist though, when hot, smoke, bellows and coos from behind the manifold… where only superman can see.

I have heard that a breather lives down there and from time to time, it cloggs up and needs clearing.

Can anyone shed any light on this fable please?

hi did you ever find out where the smoke was coming from? my mk1 is doing the same i just thought because ive been working on the engine it might have been where i spilt some oil... always good to check. thanks

that could be a leak from rocker cover, which is seeping down past inlet then onto the zaust manifold. the engine with a breather down there is the small block lumps, isnt one on a gti
the gti breather is on the rocker cover.
