removing oil cooler on mk1 gti 1.8

hello,

i need to remove the oil cooler of a 1.8 EV kjet as i think its the culprit of my water oil mix.

all i need to know is how does it come off?

do i need to remove the flange from the block?, or does it unwind from the flange?

cheers

i'm sure this will be corrected if it's wrong.

now i presume you have the water cooled "oil cooler".

and i think the whole thing is held on with three allen key bolts, and the two water pipes.

but like i said, i might be wrong!

Its a 1" nut underneath, ie where the oil filter screws onto. Then also you'll need to disconnect the coolant pipes.

The 3 allen keys hold the housing to the block, but there's no need to remove it, in fact I don't think you can reach the bolts without removing the cooler.
