power problems

hello people   I have just got myself a mk1 golf gli cab and only and it for 3 days and now it seems to be losing power and back firing like mad have cheaked the air flow and fuel and all seems to be ok it seems to struggle when it hits 3k revs and wont go above 4500 revs… can anyone give me a idea of wot the prob is??? very greatfull….gav…

Hi mate. I'm no expert but mine had the same problem.

I had the timing set and it improved a little but not much. It turned out to be a problem with fueling and ignition.

I had a spare Metering head air box with injector's and pipes so i fitted them, i got a new fuel filter, swaped the fuel pump and got a new dizzy cap. It ran a hell of a lot better than it did before

SOUND MATE THANKS FOR THE ADVICE. I WILL GET A NEW PUMP AND FILTER AND SEE WHERE I GO FROM THERE, IF STILL NO JOY I WILL BRING THE RESTO FORWARD AND TAKE IT OF THE ROAD      ONLY HAD 3 DAYS IN HER……… BUT THAY WHERE FUN
