Part Numbers needed

Hey all, I'm looking for some part numbers, for 1.8 gti mk2 engine.

  1. Rocker cover Studs
  2. Cam Cap Studs
  3. Cylinder head bolts. (Not sure on engine code, but they are a multi-spine head on them. Partco gave me one's with like 6 spines heads (star shapeish), and different threads.

What would be the best way to fit new all the studs without damaging the threads? To remove (for skimming) I used a stud extrator tool, but it leaves marks on the threads.  :dontknow:

All help would be hugely appreciated!! thanks

Cant help with the part numbers but the stud removals easy.
Just wind two nuts onto the thread, tighten them together and undo the whole assembly using the bottom nut. :)
Simple and effective.

Thanks for the help,  :D

I presume that installing the studs are the same, but reversed?

Hey. Just got my clinder head back from skimming. The guy said that it was a 6 thou bowed in the centre.

Is that an ok amount to be removed from the head? Is there anyway of checking that the valves will clear (GTI cam) the pistons before i built it and turn it over by hand?

Easy way to check for clearance is to use an old head gasket and some plasticine.
Dont use a new gasket-its not been compressed and will give a wrong reading.
Put a small amount of plasticine on the piston crown, bolt the head down enough so its tight (just nip it firmly dont go full tightness) then time it up and rotate it over twice.
Pull the head off and have a look at the plasticine and see if its contacted the valves, should be very easy to see where if it was smooth before.
Then carefully cut the plasticine in half so you can measure its compressed depth (at its lowest point).
That way youll at least get an idea of how close its all getting.
No marks indicate clearance which is deffo what we want. :)
